THE STREET OF USEFUL THINGS
a new play
When Antonia Kaspar returns to Frankfurt in 1950 from South Africa after an absence of 15 years, the strudel does not taste the same as when she left. Inspired by my German-Jewish grandmother’s departure story of exile and return—a meditation on food as a weapon, a salve, and a means to home.
